JAMES KING CREATIVE CONSULTANT

JIM'S BACKGROUND

I prefer to let my work speak for itself, but here's a little of my background...most of which is actually true.

Jim is a multitalented Conceptual Designer & Creative Director with over 18 years of design and development experience in the toy, motion picture, television, intellectual property, theme parks and consumer products industries.

Jim literally grew up in the design & development Department at Hasbro, where his father was one of the lead engineers. He was fortunate to learn at the feet of some of the best inventors and designers in the country and be the guinea pig for many of the toys you probably played with in your youth. Trained and challenged from an early age, to be an inventive thinker and look at design solutions from every conceivable angle, Jim had instilled in him an instinctual conceptual thought process that has afforded him the ability to consistently provide new and groundbreaking ideas.

Jim's traditional education was anything but. He was heavily involved in accelerated art & design programs since the second grade, including college level courses at Hope High School for the Arts and continued on to Rhode Island School of Design. His non-traditional education was diverse hands on experience of designing, fabrication, conceptual problem solving and business.

Jim began working professionally with his father's product development firm, King Design Associates, as an inventor, illustrator and prototype model maker. KDA provided top engineering, design and prototyping services as well as developing countless in-house toy and consumer products. It wasn't long before, Jim was running the day-to-day operations of KDA, which had earned the business, and respect, of many of the top toy and development companies in the industry. We were well known as the go to company for the really tough projects. Clients included Hasbro, Kenner, Galloob, Fisher Price, Milton Bradley, Playskool, Bandi, Ideal, Coleco, Marx, Mego, American Publishing, Wallace Berrie Corp, Polaroid, General Mills, General Electric, First Years, MIT and many others. Over time, the product design and development projects extended into working on commercials and other diverse areas of the business.

After several successful product sales, Jim relocated to Orlando, Florida. After doing some consulting work on projects for Disney Products, Euro Disney, Sea World and Busch Gardens, Jim co-founded Frankenegg Productions, Inc., an international design & development company specializing in crossover projects in the motion picture, television, toy and theme attraction industries. Frankenegg produced hundreds of projects for various entities across the globe. Clients and projects includes Amblin Entertainment, Warner Brothers, Universal Studios, Paramount, Morgan Creek, Disney World, Nickelodeon Studios, Busch Gardens, Sea World, 4Kids Productions, NASA, Kennedy Space Center, Larami and many others including a score of smaller companies and independents. Frankenegg also produced many in-house feature projects, television properties, theme attractions and restaurants, animation properties, licensing and toy line properties. Frankenegg also developed several attraction and television projects for overseas markets.

In recent years, Jim has become a consultant and has traveled extensively on a wide variety of projects, including project management and art direction of domestic and overseas franchise development, conceptual design for ride and show development, brainstorming and design for Walt Disney World's "100 Years of Magic" celebration, Busch Garden's Howl-O-Scream one of the largest Halloween events in the country, art direction for Jimmy Buffet's Margarittaville's theme contractor, project coordination for high technology projects, script writing and punch-up, interactive and video game development, production and direction of sports entertainment shows. His design knowledge along with his hands on fabrication and engineering experience makes for a powerful ability to look down the road to find and eliminate potentially devastating problems. In a world of ever increasing scale and ever tightening budgets, it's a handy ability indeed.

Additionally, Jim has also been actively consulting to a variety of corporations outside of the entertainment industry, providing an influx of fresh ideas and new perspectives as well as teaching other creative teams new brainstorming techniques, to boost productivity and profits. Not to mention becoming the master of the run on sentence.

Jim is a diverse, innovative and experienced design professional, who also possesses very strong knowledge of the business behind the industry.

As Jim puts it, "What I love about the entertainment business, especially being a consultant, is that it's always something different. I never know what intellectual adventure awaits on the next project. I am a self-professed Create-aholic; I have a constant need to create new and innovative ideas. I'm like a sponge; I crave information, new experiences and the challenges in packaging those new ideas to bring joy to the lives of others. I'm passionate about my work, I like not only create a better wheel, but creating a whole new idea that makes the wheel obsolete. The best compliment I ever received was, "You have a wonderful nine year old quality to how you think, while possessing the knowledge and experience to bring those thoughts to life." I couldn't have put it better myself."
